Pot with gold coins found during an excavation in Andhra Pradesh
An earthen pot with 20 gold coins was found during an excavation at Eduvadalapalem village, Koyyalagudem Mandal of Andhra Pradesh.
The pot surfaced when the excavation had been undertaken to lay a bore pipeline in a field at Eduvadapalem village. The labourers brought it up and handed it over to the land owner Manukonda Satyanarayana who broke it and found gold coins.
The matter, however, was brought to the notice of the Tehsildar, who rushed to the field accompanied by government authorities and enquired about the gold coins. The official said to have found one more coin with a laborer, who had been engaged in the field for the excavation.
After the inspection of the gold coins and clay pot, has been seized by the official concerned.
Gold coins weighing around 61 grams were found in the pot. The seized coins will hand over to the district collector and would be deposited in the Treasury.
