Hyderabad: Mumtaz Ahmed Khan may switch party if he denies a ticket

There are speculations making rounds in the political and non-political circles that if Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is denied a ticket then he may switch to another party. The unconfirmed reports and indications suggest that Mumtaz Ahmed Khan may join the Congress Party to contest from Charminar, if he is denied ticket.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is likely to field other candidates in certain constituencies, but it has not been cleared yet except for assumption. There are also indications that AIMIM may field other candidates from Charminar, Nampally, and Yakutpura constituencies.

According to media reports, Mr Khan may find a place in the Congress’s third list for the upcoming Telangana elections. The AIMIM said to have asked Mumtaz Ahmed Khan to retire and the party would allow someone else in his place.

Mr. Khan (six-term MLA) said to have tried to get the party ticket for his son Imtiyaz. But the party leadership (AIMIM) is reportedly not in the mood to yield, so Mumtaz Ahmed Khan may decide to join the congress party to contest from Charminar constituency ( The Capital of Telangana).

Though the discussion was said to have taken place over the issue with AIMIM flood leader Akberuddin Owaisi, but there was no result.

It may be mentioned here that the resentment and anger over ticket allotments in certain parties has been the talk of the town. The party candidates and their supporters are seen protesting and demanding to allot the tickets to the deserving candidates.
