Gaza | Health Care System collapses due to Israeli bombardment

The healthcare system in Gaza said to have “completely collapsed” due to constant Israeli bombardment. According to Health Ministry, as a result of the continuous Israeli bombardment of the besieged Palestinian enclave, the healthcare system in hospitals in the Gaza Strip has “totally collapsed”.

Spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra for the Gaza Health Ministry, informed that the Hospitals in Gaza have totally collapsed due to the Israeli war”Al-Qudra added that since October 7, Israeli strikes had resulted in the deaths of 65 medical personnel and the destruction of 25 ambulances.

“Twelve hospitals and 32 healthcare centers were forced out of service.” “We fear that a shortage of fuel will force many more to halt operations in the upcoming hours.” stated, Al-Qudra.The spokesperson also issued an advisory that the lack of fuel will cause electric generators to stop working in 48 hours. “We have less than 48 hours before all electric generators in hospitals run out of fuel.”


The process used to permit humanitarian aid into Gaza, he continued, is “slow and cannot change the reality,” emphasizing that “the health care system has reached the worst stage in its history.” In order to strengthen the health sector in the besieged strip, the Ministry has called on the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to advocate for enabling fuel and blood unit supplies.

Due to a power outage on Monday, the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza had to close its essential operations. Online videos showed hospital medical teams employing portable lanterns to assist patients being transported by ambulance personnel.

In a report issued Tuesday morning, the UN health authorities demanded that additional help be permitted into Gaza, stating that the region’s acute medical shortage of food, fuel, and medical supplies will only make the situation worse. According to Rick Brennan, UN World Health Organization’s Emergencies Director for the Gaza Strip, two thirds of clinics and one third of hospitals are currently non-operational at a time when the medical burden is significant.

According to official  5,791 people were killed owing to the continuous Israeli bombings on Gaza. “There were 16,297 injuries in addition to 2,360 children, 1,292 women, and 295 elders among the victims.”
