Hours after the Election Commission of India declared Telangana Assembly Election schedule, over Rs 4 crores in cash, gold, silver and other things were seized from different places in Hyderabad.
Police said that almost Rs 4.35 crores, 30 kg gold, 300 kg silver in the course of vehicle checking at certain places in Hyderabad.
The Police, however, has appealed citizens to carry proper proof of ownership and relevant documents who would be carrying more than Rs 50,000 cash and gold.
“Immediately afterwards, our teams came onto the roads and started the enforcement. There were huge seizures and I appeal to all once again – any amount of cash beyond Rs 50,000 will need complete proof of genuineness. If you are carrying cash , gold , silver or any other precious items, complete proof of ownership and papers should be there to avoid trouble and IT or ED coming into picture. 30 kg gold and 300 kg silver near Nizam college, 15 lakhs at puranapul, 30 Lakhs at Narayanamma college , 4 crore cash by task force in Mehdipatnam area,” clarified, C V Anand, Hyderabad Police Commissioner.
He further informed that, “We had nice seizures on the second day too of enforcement of the model code of conduct for the Telangana Assembly Polls,”
