Heavy rain lashes Hyderabad, 140.8 mm highest rainfall recorded in Miyapur, IMD issued an orange alert for Hyderabad.

The city of Hyderabad was pounded by over 100 mm of rainfall today in the morning triggering massive water logging at several places. It has been getting cloudier and cloudier and predicted heavy to heavy rainfall is likely in many parts of Hyderabad.

According to the Telangana State Development planning Society figures up to 7:30 AM, Miyapur recorded the highest rainfall of 140.8 mm followed by 127.3 Hyder Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, 119.8, and Shaikpet, 119. Many other areas including  Borabanda, Banjara Hills, Balaji Nagar Moosapet, Gajula ramaram, Gayatri nagar Qutubullapur, Madhapur, Shapur Nagar, Jeedimetla, Khairtabad etc recorder over 100 mm of rain in the hours of early morning.

In view of incessant rain and weather forecast the citizens have been asked to stay alert and do not venture out unnecessarily. According to Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), more rain is expected in Hyderabad and an arrange alert has been issued.

Due to increase in flows the gates of Himayath Sagar and Osman Sagar reservoirs will be opened today. Two gates of Himayath Sagar will be lifted by 2 feet each total outflow will be 1373 cusecs. Similarly, two flood gates will be opened to two feet height and outflow will be 442 cusecs.
