The Inter Miami defeated Los Angeles FC 3-1 on Sunday though Facundo Farias, Jordi Alba, and Leonardo Campana all scored goals, while Lionel Messi contributed two assists.

Since Messi’s first game with the team on July 21, Inter Miami has improved to 10-0-1 in all competitions thanks to Drake Callender’s five saves. In the final versus Nashville SC on August 19, the run culminated in a Leagues Cup victory.
Inter Miami (7-14-4, 25 points) recovered from a scoreless draw against Nashville on Wednesday, improving to 2-0-1 in MLS competition under Messi.
Ryan Hollingshead scored for LAFC – (11-8-7, 40 points). John Mc Carthy had three saves for the defending MLS cup champions. LAFC almost took an early lead following a Denis Bouanga shot from close range in the eleven minute, however, Callende hit the ball away with a closed right fist.
In the 14th minute, Farias gave Inter Miami a 1-0 lead with a sliding shot from just inside the penalty area following a long through ball by Tomas Aviles from midfield. In the third game and second start with Inter Miami, Farias scored his first goal.
In the course of 38th minute, Messi had a great goal opportunity, but McCarthy diverted his left-footed drive from close to the penalty spot. After receiving a long through ball from Messi, Alba scored from the middle of the penalty area to make it 2-0 in the 51st minute. Finally, Campana sealed the victory when he completed a two-on-one break with the left footed goal off a Messi pass.
