The LPG Cylinder explosion on a train coach has claimed 9 lives and several others were injured at Madurai Railway Junction in Tamil Nadu.
According to details, the incident took place in the wee hours of morning on Saturday when a private coach caught fire owing to a Gas Cylinder explosion that was carried illegally inside the train.
According to Southern Railway the fire was reported in a private coach at Madurai Juction around 5:15 early in the morning between Punalur-Madurai Express.
The Fire services were rushed to the spot and douse the fire that prompted the authorities to pressed into action.
MS Sangeetha, District Collector Madurai reached to the spot and undertook the reacue efforts. The bodies have been recovered from the coach and the injured were shifted to the hospitals.
“The passengers were pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh and the fire broke out in the coach soon after one of the passengers lit a gas stove that let to explosion that resulted to break out fire and casualties,” said, Madurai District Collector.
