Falaknuma Traffic Police on Thursday carried out an anti-encroachment drive and fined the vendors and shopkeepers who were found violating the traffic rules.
The drive was carried out between Engine Bowli to Farooq Nagar to drive away illegal occupants from the roadside.
The move taken by Falaknuma Traffic Police angered the vendors most as their belongings either confiscated or fined them.
It may be mentioned here that Hyderabad Traffic Police failed to remove Puranapul encroachment existing for the last several years.
“Such action is deeply hurt our sentiments and we want to know why not such action is taken against Puranapul illegal occupants and vehicle parking in front of the eatery centres at many places in Hyderabad,” questioned the vendors at Falaknuma area in the old city of Hyderabad.
Whenever Hyderabad Traffic Police or GHMC officials carry out anti-encroachment drive in the city then the vendors and traders seek clarification from either departments officials that as to why not similar actions are taken against Puranapul vendors and the eatery centre owners for their alleged traffic norms violations.
Puranapul is one of the oldest bridge in the old city of Hyderabad which was occupied illegally by the hawkers. Though Traffic Police and GHMC officials tried their best to remove them, but failed due to the protest.
While the haphazard vehicle parking infront of the Hotels and Eatery centres are reportedly cornered by Traffic Police in city. “If the action is taken then why the violation continued,” one of the hawkers Ahmed told Voiceup Media.
