Hyderabad : World Elephant Day celebrated at Nehru Zoological Park

The World Elephant Day here on Saturday celebrated at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad.

A special feast made up of Ragishaw decorated with sweet corns, Pine Apple, Guava, Carrots, Kheera , Sprouts, Soya Bean, Peepal Leaves , Banana leaves,  Sugar canes and Bamboos had been prepared  in the shape of  cakes weight around 4 kgs each and served to all the four Elephants, Vijay (Male), Vanaja (Female), Asha (Female) and Sita (Female) apart from their daily feed.

Drawing, Essay Writing, Story writing and Elocution competitions were also conducted for the students from different schools and 95 students including Zoo visiting individuals participated in the competitions. 

Speaking on that occasion Prashanth Bajirao Patil, Curator said that Nehru Zoological Park is in the fore front in spreading Wildlife awareness among the citizens in the form of eco-days celebrations. 

“More number of students and individuals are showing interest in the conservation and education programmes and regularly participating in the competitions conducted at Zoo Park,” said, Mr. Patil.

He congratulated to the winners and all the participants for making this educational programme successful.

Prashanth Bajirao Patil, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad and A. Nagamani, Dy.Curator, Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad along with animal keepers including officers and staff were present on that occasion.
