Hyderabad: Congress leaders & workers stage a protest outside GHMC office

Congress Party senior leaders and workers on Friday staged a protest outside Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) office and demanded Government of Telangana to announce Rs 10k compensation to flood victims.

They alleged that BRS Government has failed to provide better amenities to the people during heavy rainfall.

Prior to this, scores of party leaders and workers took out a rally from Gunpark to GHMC office. Later, all the leaders and workers had gathered outside GHMC office and tried to barge into the office but police immediately stopped them and took them in preventive custody.

The Congress Party leaders also K T Rama Rao to resign from his post for failing to provide better facilities to the people during rainfall.

When the leaders and activists tried to enter the GHMC office then Police had to use power and several leaders & activists were taken into preventive custody. Congress leaders raised anti-government slogans for their failure to make sure proper arrangements for monsoon.

Later, Congress Party leaders and workers were shifted to different police stations. It may be mentioned here that heavy rains wreaked havoc in many parts of Hyderabad and water logging, pathetic condition of the roads caused to public woes.
