Cases of viral conjunctivitis and eye infection are on the rise in many parts of old city of Hyderabad. Mostly students are being infected and the doctors cautioning that it is viral one and proper & hygiene behavior needs to be maintained to check its spread.
Doctors at private hospitals said that they have been receiving largely from the students and caution them to take preventive measures to keep the viral conjunctivitis at bay.
Dr. M. A. Ateeq, Consultant optometrist, L.V. Prasad, Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital said that there has been an increase in cases of eye infections and viral conjunctivitis being reported from different places. Daily 40-50 cases are being reported in the eye clinics and eye hospitals.
“It is a viral conjunctivitis, which is common in rainy season and of course will go away with timely medication and one has to take preventive measures to keep the infection at bay else one after another may be infected,’’ said, Dr. M.A. Ateeq, consultant optometrist, L.V. Prasad, Sarojini Devi Eye Hospitals.
He also asked people to avoid using mobile phones and laptops during the problem. According to the details, many families have been infected and consulting eye optometrists.
“The infection is spreading faster among children and it needs to be checked to curb it by conducting medical camps and awareness drive,’’ said, one of the parents Feroz from Karwan whose entire family infected by viral conjunctivitis.
