Red Alert: IMD issues extremely heavy rainfall alert for Telangana

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted extremely heavy rainfall in certain parts of the sate for the next three days. The IMD issued a red alert for the Telangana, it means extremely heavy rainfall is likely in the State.

The rainfall predicted between July 25 and July 28 with this red alert has been sounded. On Monday sudden heavy downpour wreaked havoc in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

A decades old mosque minaret was damaged by lightning strike during the rains, resulting developing cracks in the minaret.

Water logging and traffic jam in Hi-Tech city surroundings caused to add people woes. Long queue of the vehicles were seen at Raidurg, Cable bridge, Ikea junctions for hours on Monday night.

in view of ongoing weather reports the citizens have been asked to stay in doors and take appropriate precautions and avoid non-essential travel.

Director of School Education Department has asked all the RJDSEs and DEOs to change the timings of Primary and Upper Primary Schools. The announcement came after the IMD issued warning of heavy rainfall in the state.

“All the RJDSEs and DEOs in the state are hereby informed that vide reference cited, the government after a thorough review have issued instructions to change the timings of Primary and Upper Primary Schools and commence them at 9.30 am similar to the commencing timings of High School for the benefit of the students,’’ stated, in a proceedings issued by Director of School Education Department , Telangana.

According to  Director EV&DM, GHMC, the broken and uprooted threes have been cleared at certain places in the city of Hyderabad.
