A Qutub Shahi mosque’s minaret was damaged by lightning strike during heavy rain that lashed several parts of Hyderabad today.
The mosque is located at Langer Houz area, said to be centuries old and the minaret developed cracks and all the electrical systems inside the masjid ruined.
According to mosque authorities the lightening hit away a minaret resulting damage and developing cracks. The sound and lightning has created panic among people and luckily none reported hurt in the incident.
“One minaret of this mosque has been damaged due to lightening strike. It developed cracks and need immediate repair. AmPlifier and electrical system also ruined. It is known as Masjid-e-Qutub Shahi Langer Houz,” said, one of mosque authorities.
Kausar Mohiuddin, MLA, AIMIM visited the Masjid-e-Qutub Shahi Langer Houz and had details about the incident. He asked concerned authorities to ensure immediate release an amount to repair the mosque.
A sudden downpour wreaked havoc intwin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad in the evening. Water logging and traffic jam caused much inconvenience to the people at several places.
The officials were asked to be alert as more rain is expected across Telangana and citizens have also beem cautioned to be indoors in case of heavy rain.
