Hyderabad: Eid-ul-Adha was celebrated with religious zeal and fervor on Thursday across the city. With thousands of devotees including children in their best attire had assembled in the mosques and eidgah to offer eid-prayers in the morning.
Eid-ul-Adha, (known as Bakrid) the feast of sacrifice is the most important in the Muslim calendar, which is observed on 10th of the Islamic month of Zul-Hijja.
The hectic activity was seen since early in the morning and the butchers from different places have been engaged and they do brisk business in three days of the festival.
They (Muslims) greeted each other and distributed the meat of sacrificed animals among the friends, relatives, and needy people.
The biggest congregation was held at Mir Alam Eidgah, where thousands attended Eid-ul-Adha Namaz (prayer) amid elaborate security arrangements made by the Hyderabad Police. Beside this, the historic Mecca Masjid, Hockey Ground Masab Tank, Madnapet Eidgah witnessed huge congregations.
Prayers were also held in other mosques in different times and in the different areas in early morning.
“Thousands of Muslims from various places had gathered here to offer eid-prayers. May Allah accept our good deeds and sacrifice on this important occasion,’’ said, Maulana Mohammed Rizwan Qureshi, who led prayer at Mir Alam Eidgah.
Sai Chaitanya, DCP South Zone said that all possible arrangements had been placed to ensure peaceful conduct of the festival. The Law & Order and Traffic Police personnel have been pressed into service to make sure peaceful ambience in the localities.
“All possible efforts have been made by the City Police law & order and Traffic Police in and around the religious places to make sure peaceful conduct of the festival,’’ DCP, South Zone, Sai Chaitanya told Media.
