Ageing, widows, and disabled women beyond the age of 50 or 60 –years are reportedly forced to make rounds of the offices for the meager pensions in the old city of Hyderabad. They have been issued pension cards, but the pension became a distant dream for many old-age people. Those, who have submitted all the necessary documents, still in pending.
Saleem Khatoon, 57 resident of Chandulal Baradari under Bahadurpura Mandal was certified that she is suffering from permanent disability, and she ahs applied for the pension during 2020, but her application is still pending. Despite several requests and reminders nothing has been done to approve the application.
“I have been making rounds of the offices to get the application approved; but no one appears in a mood to heed towards my plea. I kindly request the Government of Telangana and officials concerned to please help me out in this matter,’’ said, Saleem Khatoon in a written note.
Mohammed Ahmed, TDP, GHMC, Minority Vice-President told Voiceup Media that an ageing woman was running from pillar to post for the disability pension; despite submitting all the necessary documents the application was still pending. The matter, however, has brought into the notice of Government of Telangana to help out the woman.
“Sir, Saleem Khatoon applied for disability pension on Feb 26, 2020, but inspite of 28 months her application is still pending, Kindly ask collector to take necessary action in this regard,’’ tweeted, Mohammed Ahmed, leader, TDP.

There are other old-age people who have been waiting anxiously for their pensions. The authorities cited documentation or Adhar link issue may be the reason behind delaying in the process.
