Kerala: Man sets passengers on fire in a moving train, 3 killed 9 others injured

In a shocking incident, an unidentified person set passengers on fire in a moving train in Kerala, resulting three killed and 9 others were injured.

According to media reports, an argument on board led a person to sprinkle petrol on the co-passengers and set them on fire. Later, the accused reportedly managed to flee from the moving train. Three bodies of a family including an infant were recovered from a track away from the station.

The incident happened in an Express Train, when it arrived at Korapuza Railway Bridge after crossing Kozhikode city on Sunday around 9:45 PM. The eyewitnesses told media that a man was seen sprinkling and setting passengers on fire after an argument ensued with a fellow passenger while travelling in the train.

The bodies of a family including a woman, an infant and a man, who had gone missing from the Alappuzha-Kanura Express, were found near the Elathur Railway Station. Those, who were injured in the incident, are being treated in different hospitals and the condition of the two persons said to critical.

A case has been registered and investigation is on. CCTV cameras are also being checked by officials concerned. Moreover, SIT was formed to probe the fire and find out the fact behind the shocking incident taken place in Kerala.
