Ujjain: Three Railway constables have been suspended over seeking bribe from the passengers at Ujjain Railway Station in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
The matter came to light, after a complaint has been lodged against GRP constables, who were reportedly stopped the passengers from West Bengal at the platform-4 and demanded bribe and on refusing, they (passengers) were threatened to face legal action.
“When we arrived at the platform-4 then only some constable approached to us and took our all documents and belongings as if we have done something wrong. When we objected over their action they demanded hush-money,’’ said, one of the passengers at Unjain Railway Station.
A case has been registered against the constables and they reportedly have suspended by the higher-ups.
“A complaint has been received by the passengers from West Bengal. In which, claimed to have been deprived from their money forcibly by the GRP personnel at the Ujjain Railway Station on March 29. We have initiated action against them (constables) and probe in on,’’ said, one of the Railway Police officers.
The passengers staged a protest at the Railway Station against the GRP Police constables attitude with them.
