In view of the rising trend of Black Marketing of Primary health care services in areas like Pahadisharif, Shaheenagar, Wadi e Mustafa, Barkas and with lack of public health facilities.
Lean Foundation, USA and Helping Hand Foundation (HHF), have collaborated to set up its first Primary Health Care center in Pahadisharif, for HHF its the 4th in this area and 8th in the old city area mainly the urban Slums south of Musi
A survey done by HHF, recently has pointed that due to ‘Quacks & RMPs’ dominate the primary health domain, a culture of treating common and seasonal diseases with IV Injections has seeped into the peoples mind.
“Each IV Treatment cost Rs 700 to 800 and is priced x5 times the MRP. This translates into higher out of pockets expenses for many, who are most daily wagers and most of them end up borrowing money,” said, Mujtaba Hasan Askari, president Helping Hand Foundation.
Survey further pointed that other public services like primary & secondary education, anganwadi centers are not optimally utilized and which further adds to the financial burden of families living in this area.
“The new primary health care center set up by ‘LEAN FOUNDATION, USA’ is aimed to bridge the gap and provide a wide range of health services which will include, OP Consultation, Ante Natal, Opthal, Dental & NCD Care with good quality of medicines and clinicians all free of cost. The center was formally launched today by Lubna Farooq, Founder of LEAN Foundation, USA,” added, Helping Hand Foundation President.
