Hyderabad: Sub-inspector held for accepting Rs 8,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths arrested a sub-inspector (SI) of Bahadurpura Police Station for demanding and accepting Rs. 8,000 bribe from the complainant on Friday.

The complainant, Mohammed Mujeeb had lodged a complaint with ACB on December 17, in which stated that Bahadurpura Police Sub-Inspector Sharvan Kumar had sought Rs 30, 000 bribe to release his son Ateeq in a case.

“The complainant had approached us seeking action against the Bahadurpura Sub Inspector Shravan Kumar. On the basis of his complaint, we laid a trap and caught him a red-handed accepting bribe,’’ clarified, one of the ACB officials.

The ACB authorities have made an appeal to the people to approach the Anti-Corruption Bureau in case of any government’s official demand or seek hush money or call on toll-free number 1064.
