Shanti Kumari, senior IAS officer, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Telangana State.
The orders were issued to appoint her as the CS following Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao okayed of her appointment to the top bureaucratic post in Telangana.
The order was given a day after the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) relieved Somesh Kumar from his post. She worked as a principal secretary in the CMO and as a special secretary in the TS-IPASS.
Presently, she is holding the post of special chief secretary in the Forest department before being appointed as CS. The newly appointed Chief Secretary called on Chief Minister Pragati Bhavan and thanked him for reposing confidence in her and entrusting her with the CS’s post.
A 1989 batch officer, Shanti Kumari is the first woman to take up the top post in the newly formed Telangana State.
