The Government- run Residential Welfare School for Minorities has launched a comprehensive mental health program for its over 1.5 lacs students across 200 plus schools and colleges in TS in collaboration with the Helping Hand Foundation.
HHF has been roped in to build capacity by training teachers, who would act as counselors & running a HELPLINE with the help of qualified counselors under a Sr Clinical Psychologist. 250 teachers have completed the training program today at the TMREIS head office.
Suggestion boxes will be placed in all schools for students to report grievances and health issues, apart from close monitoring and counseling of students facing mental health problems.
Secretary TMREIS, B. Shafiullah, released the mental health awareness posters on Thursday at the head office to mark the start of one-its-kind services and a first for any govt school.
