Two people have died and twenty others were hospitalized after allegedly consuming contaminated water at Udamgadda, in Milardevpally on Wednesday.
The matter came to light after a woman Afreen Sultana, died while being treated in a hospital with severe diarrhea after drinking polluted water, allegedly supplied at Udamgadda, Milardevpally, Hyderabad.
Angry residents told Media that the contaminated water was being supplied in the locality for the last one week which led to the death of the residents and caused to affected others’ health in the area.
“My wife (Afreen Sultana), was admitted in a hospital after consuming contaminated water and died while being treated in a hospital,’’ said, Shaik Moizuddin, told Media.
The residents further complained that children, elders and youths fell ill overnight in the area and the matter was brought to the notice of the authorities.
“My son got fits suddenly and his health deteriorated overnight and we rushed to Osmania Hospital. There are many people in the locality have been affected due to contaminated water,’’ another woman said,
The police, however, said that no complaint was lodged in this regard.
“We are trying to find out the fact behind the death of the people in the locality,’’ said, one of the police official.
