At least six people were killed and many others were badly affected by the heavy rains in several villages of Uttar Pradesh. According officials, more than 1300 villages across 18 districts are badly hit by floods.
According to the Relief Commissioner’s office three people were died due to rain, while others were killed owing to a lightning strike, drowning and snakebite. “Around 287 villages were badly hit by floods in Balrampur District, 129 villages in Siddharthnagar, 120 in Gorakhpur, 114 in Shravsti, 110 in Gonda, 102 in Bahraich, 86 in Lakhimpur Kheri and 82 villages were affected in Barabanki District,’’ stated, in Relief Commissioner’s office.
Locals complained that due to incessant rains the normal life has completely halt and people were suffering a lot for moving from one place to another as the rain-water accumulated on the busy roads causing immense convenience for the people.
Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh expressed grief over the loss of lives in the flood and asked the officials concerned to ensure immediate relief to the affected people. The Ganga River was flowing above the danger mark at Badaun. However, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also asked officials to deploy SDRF, NDRF for relief and rescue work in the flood-hit villages.
